Specialist Obstetrics & Gynaecology – Fetal Medicine

Job Description

Carries out obstetrician and gynecologic health care, both on an in-patient and out-patient basis, for those patients designated as being entitled to such care by.

Responsibilities

Perform professional duties as an obstetrician/gynecologist.
Provide surgical care in both the operating room and outpatient department (O.P.D.) for gynecologic and obstetric conditions, for both emergency and planned procedures.
Cover the Delivery Room, including admitting patients, reviewing their history, planning a course of action, performing spontaneous and operative deliveries, and coordinating with midwives.
Cover the Emergency Service by promptly responding to consultation calls.
Provide outpatient care in Clinics as assigned by the Head of Department.
Perform and interpret ultrasound examinations both in-hospital and on an outpatient basis.
Interpret fetal heart rate monitoring and take appropriate clinical action.
Conduct formal and informal consultations for physicians from other departments.
Attend committee meetings as assigned by the Head of Department.
Interact with patients’ families to keep them informed of the patient’s condition, changes, and treatment plans.

Qualifications

Graduation from an approved medical school, including completion of internship.
Three years of residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, culminating in a Post Graduate Masters degree and/or equivalent Fellowships approved by DOH.
Minimum of five years’ exclusive practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology since certification.
Valid DOH license to practice.
Excellent command of written and oral English.
Basic knowledge of medical Arabic is desirable.
Thorough knowledge of medical ethics.
