Emirates Post, a 7X company, is a diversified postal corporation providing postal and non-postal services through a network of 109 post offices across the UAE. In 2007, Emirates Post became a subsidiary of Emirates Post Group under a Federal decree issued in 2013. Other subsidiaries under the group include the Electronic Document Centre (EDC) and Wall Street Exchange. Postal and express solutions serve individuals and businesses. Services cover domestic and international geographies, and the collection and delivery of a wide range of outbound and inbound items. Non-postal services cater to individuals, businesses, and communities with a portfolio that includes government services, utility bill payments, retail insurance, money remittance, travel bookings, and advertising by post.

Partnerships with government agencies and commercial enterprises enable the provision of secure and convenient services across the UAE. The United Arab Emirates has been a member of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) since 1973 and was elected to the 40-member Postal Operations Council (POC) at the 25th UPU Congress held in Doha in October 2012. Emirates Post’s Training and Development Center has obtained accreditation from the UPU to conduct training programs for neighboring postal corporations. In 2006, Emirates Post was selected by the UPU to host its three-day Strategy Conference in Dubai, marking the first time the event was held outside UPU headquarters. Emirates Post actively supports various UPU initiatives and projects, including the IFS money transfer system that enables secure transfers through the postal network.

1908 – 19 August
First postal agency opened in the Emirate of Dubai, affiliated with and managed by Indian Post Office Services.

1932 – 7 October
First letter posted from a Dubai postal service via Sharjah Airport.

1942 – 1 April
The agency became an integrated Post Office providing all basic services.

1947 – 15 October
Management of the Post Office came under Pakistani administration.

1948 – 1 April
Dubai postal management transferred to British administration after the independence of India and Pakistan.

1961 – 7 January
Issue of the first set of stamps of the Trucial States in Dubai.

1963–1964
Opening of post offices in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah.

1972 – 1 August
Establishment of the General Directorate of Postal Services under the Ministry of Communications.

1973 – 1 January
Issuing of the first set of ordinary stamps bearing the name of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

1973 – 30 March
The United Arab Emirates joins the Universal Postal Union.

1985 – 1 April
General Postal Authority established.

2001 – 29 May
Federal Decree establishing Emirates Postal Establishment (Emirates Post) issued.

2007 – 16 September
Establishment of Emirates Post Group Holding, with Emirates Post becoming a subsidiary of the Group.

2013 – 29 May
Federal Law No. 3 of 2013 issued concerning the establishment of “Emirates Post Group,” granting legal presence and capability to undertake necessary actions and business activities to achieve its objectives under an independent budget. Emirates Post and Empost were merged as an operational unit within the Group.

2016 – October
Became the world’s first postal entity to receive the TISSE2012 (The International Standard for Service Excellence).
Recognized as the world’s fastest postal delivery service (Integrated Index of Postal Development).
